The Human Codon Usage Analyzer

This server analyses the codon usage of genes.
The codon usage of each input gene is compared to the codon usage of human (or mouse) genes that carry out cell cycle proliferation process, and to the codon usage of human (or mouse) genes that carry out differentiation processes.
The final result is a plot that shows for each input gene its similarity to the codon usage of these two gene sets.
The analysis is based on our previous observation that human (and to a lesser extent mouse genes) differ in their codon usage and that the gene sets with most distinct codon usage are the cell cycle proliferation genes and the differentiation genes.
The plot on the left shows a codon usage density map of the human genome. Each gene's codon usage was scored for similarity to the cell cycle and the differentiation genes' codon usage, densities in the map are color coded.
Most human genes have a codon usage signature that is similar to that of the differentiation genes.
